"The Hanover Dragoons|
Camp #827, SCV"
December Camp Meeting
The Hanover Dragoons Camp #827, S.C.V. held it's |
Annual Banquet on Tuesday, December 16th
at The Hollows Golf Course/Taylor's Restaurant
located at 14501 Greenwood Church Road, Ashland, VA
We had a wonderful turnout including many members, their families, and fellow SCV and UDC members from around the Richmond,VA area.
Our special guest was Mr. Patrick A. Schroeder, whose program was his first-person presentation of George Peers, life time resident and long-term county clerk of Appomattox, VA. Peers tells of the Civil War, relating information the units raised in Appomattox, and describing the importance of "salt day." His reminisces of those fateful April days of 1865 when the armies converged on the village are unique and insightful. Peers' account is one of the few civilian accounts to tell what occurred in Appomattox itself during those trying days.
During our Annual Banquet, our Camp Officers were elected and sworn in. We were honored to have been sworn in by Past Virginia Division Judge Advocate Harry Boyd, who is currently the Commander of the Gen. James Longstreet Camp in Richmond,VA. Please see the Camp Officers Link for a complete list of our Camp Officers and contact information. These Officers will serve until 2005.
During our Camp Banquet, we take time out to recognize those who have helped the Camp in various important ways and show our appreciation to them by presenting Certificates of Appreciation. The Hanover Dragoons Camp #827 wishes to thank everyone for their part in helping our Camp to grow and prosper!
The Hanover Dragoons Camp #827 wishes you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
