"The Hanover Dragoons
Camp #827, SCV"
February 2005 Banquet

Compatriots & Prospective Members,

We had outstanding attendance at our February Camp meeting! We actually ran out of BBQ for the very first time! Great show of faces by our Camp Compatriots. Let’s repeat it in March & bring a friend/guest!

The Hanover Dragoons Camp would like to warmly welcome our two newest Camp Compatriots. We inducted Compatriot Lee Ward into The Hanover Dragoons Camp during our February Camp meeting. Compatriot Edward S. Corker joined our Camp in February and we will be inducting him into our Camp very soon! Welcome to The Hanover Dragoons Camp #827 gentlemen. We are honored and pleased to have you as our newest Compatriots!

During our February meeting, we were honored to have as our guest speaker Mr. Charles Cooke. Mr. Cooke is a employee of the Richmond Battlefield/National Park Service. We thoroughly enjoyed his discussion of “Chimborazo Hospital” and found it quite interesting to learn about the medical practices of that era. We are very fortunate that we have come such a long way with medical treatment in 140 years!

We unfortunately did not have a camera at our last Camp meeting to share photos with you in this newsletter, however, a brief history of Chimborazo Hospital can be found on the National Park Service’s website and photos of Chimborazo Hospital on the website known as Civil War Richmond

I look forward to seeing each of you at our next meeting, Wednesday, March 16th at Slash Church. Social time begins at 6pm, followed by dinner, guest speaker & then Camp business. Bring a friend/guest and come on out for some food & fun!

Our guest speaker will be local historian and SCV Compatriot John Frawner, who will talk to us about the “History of Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA”. This is sure to be an informative and very interesting discussion. I look forward to seeing many happy Southern faces on March 16th!

We are continuing to steadily grow with members both young and young at heart.
Come out and enjoy the fellowship of fellow Compatriots and some great food.

I look forward to seeing each of you on March 16th!
