More About The S.C.V.

Who Are The Sons of Confederate Veterans?

The Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) is the direct heir of the United Confederate Veterans, and the oldest heriditary organization for male descendants of Confederate soldiers. The SCV was organized in Richmond, Virginia in 1896 and continues to serve as a historical, patriotic, and non-political organization dedicated to insuring that a true history of the 1861-1865 period is preserved. Upon completion of your genealogy research and membership application and payment of dues, approved members receive our Camp newsletter "The Bugle Call", the Division (State) newsletter "The Old Dominion Voice", an annual "Confederate Veteran" magazine subscription, and a beautiful membership certificate suitable for framing.

Who Can Join the Sons of Confederate Veterans?

Membership in the SCV is open to all male descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed forces. Membership can be obtained through either direct or collateral family lines and kinship to a veteran must be documented genealogically. The minimum age requirement for membership is 12. Life memberships are also available.
